  • 3/4 Cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • 1/2 Cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup chopped apple
  • 1 Cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients, then cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla; add to dry ingredients along with chopped apples.
  4. Drop batter by 1/4 cup onto the baking sheet and bake for 11-13 minutes until golden.
  5. Brush with glaze made from confectioner’s sugar, milk, and vanilla; broil for extra crispiness.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
