  • 9 ounces black forest ham, cut into strips
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • Chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13-inch casserole dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Layer shredded chicken evenly at the bottom of the dish.
  3. Add ham strips on top of the chicken, followed by an even layer of Swiss cheese.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in Dijon mustard, milk, and seasonings until thickened.
  5. Pour the sauce over the layered ingredients and top with Panko breadcrumbs mixed with softened butter.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
