  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 cup half-and-half (minus 2 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add half-and-half while stirring until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead gently about five times.
  6. Pat into a rectangle about one inch thick and cut out biscuits with a cutter.
  7. Place on the baking sheet and brush tops with melted butter.
  8. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
