  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 lasagna noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper; simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with one egg and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Assemble in a baking dish: start with meat sauce, layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce again, and mozzarella. Repeat layers two more times. Top with remaining noodles and sauce, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil (sprayed with cooking spray) and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake another 20 minutes until golden.
  8. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
