  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g white sugar
  • 220 g cold unsalted butter
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. For the dough, mix flour, white sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter and blend until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until combined; refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. For the filling, peel and chop apples. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat, then add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water; cook until apples are slightly tender.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface; place in pie dish and fill with apple mixture. Cover with another layer of dough if desired.
  5. Bake for about 90 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
